This aspect of research aims to characterise the national New Zealand building stock of URM buildings.
New Zealand URM buildings are classified into typologies, based on their general structural configuration. Seven typologies have been identified and based on these classifications, seismic vulnerability assessments can be conducted on a regional and national basis. Two examples are given in photos below.
Typology A buildings are single storey isolated buildings.
Typology B buildings are single storey row buildings.
Typology C buildings are two storey isolated buildings.
Typology D buildings are two storey row buildings.
Typology E buildings are three + storey isolated buildings.
Typology F buildings are three + storey row buildings.
Typology G buildings are other non-uniform buildings, which do not fit into the above categories.
